Labour and Delivery Support

Bringing a baby into the world is a powerful experience—and having skilled, steady support can make a meaningful difference. My Labour & Delivery Support service blends my background as a Registered Massage Therapist with specialized perinatal training to offer continuous, hands-on care throughout your birth experience. My goal is to help you feel grounded, informed, and physically supported through each stage of labour.

Every birth is unique. Here are some of the ways I can support you:

Physical Comfort

Using massage and targeted techniques to help manage contractions, ease tension, and support optimal positioning:

Counterpressure for back labour
Hip squeezes and pelvic support
Acupressure points for comfort
Heat or cold therapy
Gentle massage between contractions
Positional guidance for progress and comfort

These techniques can help reduce pain perception, improve coping, and support your body’s natural rhythm.

Mental and Emotional Support

Birth can feel overwhelming, especially during transition or when plans shift. I offer:

Calm, continuous encouragement
Guidance through coping strategies
Reassurance during intense moments
Support for both you and your partner/support person

My presence is steady and nonjudgmental—I’m there to help you feel safe and supported throughout the entire process.

Partner Support

I’m not there to replace your partner—I’m there to support both of you.
Partners often feel more confident and involved with guidance on:

Positions that help labour progress
How to apply effective counterpressure
Timing rest breaks
Ways to stay connected and supportive

This allows your partner to be fully present without the pressure of remembering every tool or technique.

Timeline of Labour and Delivery Support

Before Labour Begins

Support starts long before birth. Included is time to connect and prepare:

An in-home birth class to discuss your preferences, comfort levels, and concerns
Review of comfort measures and labour positions
Discussing how we’ll communicate when labour begins
Ensuring I understand your goals for birth, however they may look
I suggest 2-3 Prenatal Massage appointments so i can get to know you and how your body responds.

This helps us enter labour already on the same page.

On-Call Availability

Starting at 38 weeks (or a mutually agreed-upon time), I am on call for your birth—day or night.
This includes:

24/7 availability
Immediate response when labour starts
Flexibility to join you at home or at your chosen birthing place

When you’re ready for support, I come to you.

During Labour

I provide continuous, hands-on care—no shift changes, no rotating staff.
This may include:

Accompanying you to the hospital or birth center
Staying through active labour, transition, and delivery
Supporting both vaginal and cesarean births

My role is to support your comfort, help you advocate for your preferences when appropriate, and help you stay connected to your own strength and intuition.

After Baby Arrives

Once baby is here, I stay for a short period (1-2 hours) to ensure:

You’re comfortable and settled
Early postpartum needs are supported
Your partner has guidance if needed
You have time to transition into recovery

Follow-up postpartum massage can also be booked when you’re ready.

Birth is not about controlling the outcome—it’s about feeling supported, cared for, and able to meet each moment with confidence.

Here’s what’s included when you choose me as your Labour & Delivery support.
I encourage clients to see me for a minimum of three Prenatal Massage treatments during pregnancy so we can get to know each other, understand how your body responds, and build trust ahead of the big day.
These prenatal sessions are billed separately so you can use your insurance benefits.

Labour and Delivery Class (taught in your home)2-2.5 hours

*This class can be booked separately from L&D support for those who want a little refresher course before the big day.
This personalized class covers:

Basics of the stages of labour
Breathing techniques
Positioning and rhythm during labour
Defining your “yes’s,” “no’s,” and “maybes.”
Time for me to connect with your support people and ensure everyone feels prepared

Labour and Delivery Support
This includes my presence and assistance from active labour (3-4cm dilation) through delivery and up to 2-3 hours postpartum. My support includes:

Massage therapy for pain relief and relaxation
Breath coaching
Counterpressure techniques
Emotional support for you and your partner/support team
Guidance to help navigate the birth process

Please note that I do not have lactation or breastfeeding training.

Total Cost $1050

While my services cannot be billed to health insurance as massage therapy, some clients have had success submitting invoices to their health spending accounts. I will provide a detailed invoice, including my registration number, for you to check with your provider. Interested? Reach out below!
